Marianne Cap

Marianne earned a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences at Ghent University. Driven by a passion for storytelling, she traveled to Colombia after her studies to immerse herself in cuentería, the art of storytelling. Alongside a job working with young people on education for sustainable development and a Postgraduate in Intercultural Management, she founded her own theatre company. With it, she went to Venezuela to help young people build self-confidence and gain a perspective on their future through theatre. In 2018, she reconnected with those same youths for a documentary with VRANCX. Today, as a ceremony speaker at Mariposa, Marianne combines her love of theatre with public speaking.

Favorite verb

Playing. I used to play with children in the playground as an youth leader, then as an instructor with teenagers, and now I play with my own children. But I also love playing in other ways. Because life is serious enough as it is. Because it's a shame that we sometimes forget how to play as we get older. Because seeing some things as a game can help when things get tough. I can easily slip into a fantasy game, spend hours playing board games with friends, or always escape (oh yes!) from the escape rooms where I regularly get locked up with my friends. Want to play?”

Hereby the team's feedback on the training session we had together :

  • Training is spot on what we expected
  • Very interactive session and authentic with lots of practice of the principles
  • Not that much theory, but good tips & tricks, and that’s surely ok
  • Smooth but very honest and constructive feedback – we were directly set in a safe environment
  • Trainer was very good and living her principles to the fullest

Overall quite positive, and as expected also a kind of team building thanks to the fact we did it together, and in a pleasant atmosphere
